In the evolving landscape of political representation, competence, character, and demonstrable experience remain core pillars of effective public service.

One individual whose professional journey reflects these attributes is Obanewo Titus Femi, an accomplished finance and management professional with over 15 years of experience across accounting, financial administration, corporate leadership, governance, and strategic management.

Born on July 28, 1980, and hailing from Ayetoro-Gbedde in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Obanewo has built a career that spans multiple sectors, consistently demonstrating the discipline, rigor, and leadership essential for managing institutions and navigating complex economic systems.

Early Foundations in Accounting, Public Financial Management

Obanewo’s professional path began shortly after his early training at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where he obtained a Certificate in Public Accounting and Auditing in 1999. He went on to secure a National Diploma (2004) and Higher National Diploma (2006) in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Idah, building a solid academic base in financial systems and controls.

His first formal professional role came during his NYSC year (2007–2008), where he served as an Accounting Instructor at Comprehensive High School Alesa Eleme in Rivers State.

Beyond teaching accounting fundamentals, he introduced students to modern accounting tools such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Xero, demonstrating an early commitment to developing others, a trait that has followed him throughout his career.

Steady Rise Through Corporate Finance, Governance

From 2009 to 2013, Obanewo served as an Accountant at Havilah Automobile Limited in Port Harcourt. His responsibilities ranged from preparing financial statements to managing tax compliance, conducting audits, and overseeing payroll systems. These duties demanded precision, integrity, and adherence to regulatory frameworks, qualities that would later define his leadership style.

He was subsequently appointed Financial Manager at the same company (2013–2017), where his portfolio expanded into investment management, strategic financial planning, and regulatory compliance. During these years, he refined his capacity for risk assessment, budgeting, and corporate financial oversight.

His transition to broader governance responsibilities came in 2017 when he became Director of Policy and Governance at Ferach Multiconcept Nigeria Limited. In this role, he combined financial expertise with strategic oversight, ethical governance, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring, experience that aligns closely with the demands of public representation and legislative responsibilities.

Today, he continues to reinforce his commitment to public-sector development as a serving member of the Board of the Kogi State Polytechnic, contributing to institutional oversight, quality assurance, and policy direction for the state-owned educational institution.

Senior Leadership Roles, Executive Experience

Obanewo’s executive journey deepened with his appointment as Finance Director at Michaelson Technologies Limited (2019–2021). Here, he managed strategic financial planning, forecasting, compliance, investment appraisal, cost management, and capital allocation. His responsibilities required a macro-level understanding of both local and global financial climates, as well as the ability to translate financial realities into actionable strategies.

In 2021, he reached the apex of corporate leadership by becoming the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Felomal Integrated Services Limited, a role he holds to date. As CEO, he supervises strategic planning, operational management, risk mitigation, stakeholder relations, team leadership, and business development. Leading an organisation at this level underscores his capacity for vision-driven leadership, structured problem-solving, and effective resource management; skills essential for navigating public institutions and representing community interests.

Academic, Personal Background

Obanewo holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Banking from the University of Port Harcourt (2017). He is multilingual, speaking English, Yoruba, and his native Okun dialect, and is known for his passion for reading, teaching, and travelling. He is married and is widely regarded as a calm, analytical, and people-oriented personality.

His special attributes, critical thinking, communication, interpersonal skills, team management, and disciplined time management, mirror the competencies expected of individuals managing public mandates.

A Profile of Credibility, Professional Rigor

Throughout his career, Obanewo has maintained a consistent pattern:

Strength in financial management and accountability

Clear leadership and governance experience

A record of ethical conduct and organisational discipline

A commitment to continuous learning and community-oriented service

These qualities collectively reflect a professional whose background aligns with the responsibilities of legislative service, budget oversight, policymaking, constituency engagement, and public financial accountability.

While political decisions ultimately rest with party structures and the electorate, profiles like that of Femi Obanewo illustrate how seasoned professionals from the private sector can bring valuable expertise into the public domain.
