The Okun nation has been urged to continue speaking with one voice and upholding their cultural heritage.
The Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Karimi, gave the charge in response to the celebration of both Iyara Cultural Day and Takete Ide Day, respectively.
Karimi, in his reaction to the celebrations via social media platforms, noted that the Okun nation has been known from immemorial times to exhibit hard work, sincerity, and solidarity towards community development.
He urged both communities to utilise the funds raised in the events to add value to their respective environment.
The Senator, who made a personal donation of fifteen million Naira to both communities, urged other illustrious sons and daughters of the Okun nation to continue giving a helping hand towards realising self-help projects.
He urged them to be supportive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which has accorded serious recognition to Kogi Indigenes in his appointments.
He affirmed his determination to continue to give quality representation at the upper chamber and deliver the dividends of democracy to the entire people of Kogi State.
The Senator acknowledged the role of traditional institutions as the custodians of culture and tradition and urged them to continue to herald the socio-cultural values of the Okun nations.
Karimi urged Kogi Indigenes to unite as one family in the face of the incessant attack by the men of the underworld, emphasising that intelligent information gathering and reporting of suspicious cases can make a difference between criminal tendencies and their execution.
