Friends, family members, and colleagues gathered in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, to celebrate the 60th birthday of Princess Mary Toyin Agbede, a woman widely admired for her kindness, wisdom, and devotion to God.
Attendees described Agbede’s life as a reflection of the “Proverbs woman” referenced in Proverbs 14:1 and Proverbs 31, a wise, capable, and virtuous figure who builds her household with diligence, kindness, and the fear of the Lord.
“Being a Proverbs woman isn’t about perfection but about striving to live a life of virtue, wisdom, and devotion to God,” said Special Mother-in-Israel Oyeyemi, a member of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church Movement, Muritala Road, Ilorin, where Agbede worships. “It means being a woman of integrity, kindness, and strength who fears the Lord and honors Him in all aspects of life, and that is exactly what the celebrant represents.”
Her husband, Mr. Kole Agbede, the Kwara State Advert Executive for the Tribune newspaper, expressed deep appreciation for his wife’s unwavering support over the years.
“This birthday party is an opportunity to celebrate a woman who has chosen to love and stand by me through thick and thin,” he said. “It is also a chance for me to appreciate her for standing firm despite the challenges we have faced together.”
Visibly moved by the turnout and show of love, Princess Agbede thanked her family and friends for organizing the event.
“I am overwhelmed by the love and presence of so many people,” she said. “The idea was simply to gather a few friends and family members to appreciate God’s faithfulness in my life and family, but the turnout has exceeded our expectations. I sincerely thank my husband, children, and immediate family members. To God alone be all the glory.”
The celebrant’s first child, Mr. Ilerioluwa Agbede, also expressed gratitude to guests for honoring their mother. “We thank everyone present for celebrating our matriarch,” he said.
Special Apostle Jide Ibrahim, who anchored the event, which lasted less than three hours, highlighted instances of Agbede’s wisdom in managing her family, further affirming her virtuous character.
