A cleric , Reverend Dr Joseph Oyebanji Agboluaje has called on Nigerians and successive governments to stop blame games which is retarding the Nation’s progress and development .
In his Weekend Tips with the Priest, Lesson 4: State of the Nation Part 2 released yesterday, Reverend Agboluaje called on Nigerians to confront their own shortcomings and acknowledge their role in the nation’s woes, else we will continue to stagnate.
The cleric who is the Executive Secretary, ECWA Fate/Tanke DCC, Ilorin urged Nigerians to embrace self-reflection and accountability in our little corners so as to begin to forge a better future.
In his words, “Welcome to Weekend Tips with the Priest of God. Today, I’m compelled to address the State of the Nation, a pressing concern that weighs heavily on my heart. When the righteous lead, the nation rejoices, but unfortunately, we’ve mastered the art of shifting blame since independence. We’ve pointed fingers at:
- The colonial masters (before 1960)
- Military regimes (1963-1979, 1984-1999)
- Civilian governments (1979-1984, 1999-2023)
- Political parties (1999-2023)
- One administration after another (2023 to date)
But amidst this blame game, I pose a crucial question: Who takes responsibility for themselves?”.
“Until Nigerians confront their own shortcomings and acknowledge their role in the nation’s woes, we’ll continue to stagnate. The day we embrace self-reflection and accountability in our little corners is the day we’ll begin to forge a better future”.
He prayed that may God bless Nigeria and grant us the wisdom to look inward, confront our flaws, and work towards a brighter tomorrow.
