Ali Bello, the chief of staff for Kogi State, requested permission to travel overseas for medical treatment, and on Monday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, sitting in Abuja, granted his plea.
Bello’s passport was ordered to be released by Egwuatu during the verdict on the notice petition filed by Bello’s attorney, Abubakar Aliyu (SAN), so that Bello could go to the UK for a medical examination and consultation.
He gave the deputy chief registrar of the court instructions to give him Bello’s travel documents.
The first defendant/applicant is granted authorization to travel to the United Kingdom, as stated in the following order: London Centre for Advanced Cardiology, 3rd Floor, 19 Horley Street, London,between July 22, 2024, and September 10, 2024, for a sequence of follow-up cardiologic medical examinations and consultations with his medical consultant.

The London Centre for Advanced Cardiology, located at 19 Harley Street, London, is the location of the first defendant/applicant. An order has been made to release the applicant’s international passport, number B50027568, from the custody of the Deputy Chief Registrar of this Court. This will allow the applicant to travel to the United Kingdom for a series of follow-up cardiologic medical examinations and consultations with his personal medical consultant between July 22, 2024, and September 10, 2024.
On September 15, 2024, at the latest, Bello must surrender the passport to the deputy chief registrar of the court, according to Egwuatu.
In the motion numbered FHC/ABJ/CR/573/2022, Bello’s attorney, Aliyu, requested an order allowing Bello to go to the UK for medical examination.
The petitioner requested two reliefs and an order from the court to return his passport, which is being held by the deputy chief registrar of the court, in an application dated April 2 but filed on April 5.
According to Bello, the regular cardiologic follow-up was done to assess his medication regimen and do annual cardiac tests in July, as needed, in accordance with physician recommendations.
